I will establish for them a renowned planting place, and they will not again be victims of famine in the land, and they will not endure the insults of the nations anymore. Ezekiel 34:29.

ONMI's Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture and Agroforestry in South Sudan.
Shalom to you and family. Thank you to our supporters. We are committed to utilizing land in South Sudan to cultivate food crops, promoting food security and combating hunger. We also engage in agroforestry to produce cash crops and encourage reforestation, planting at least two trees for every one cut down.

Empowering South Sudanese Families Through ONMI's Agricultural Initiative
Your support for ONMI's agricultural initiative helps empower South Sudanese families returning from exile to improve their lives. Emmanuel, ONMI's Agricultural Coordinator, exemplifies this effort. He and his wife, Grace, are raising three children in South Sudan. Emmanuel's diligent work, including successfully weeding out orange, mango, teak, and eucalyptus trees, is commendable and reflects your commitment to our agricultural initiatives.

" The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." Isaiah 58:11
Sustainable Pruning Practices and Cash Crop Cultivation for Economic Growth
We extend our gratitude for the meticulous pruning of the teaks, which is crucial for enhancing tree growth and ensuring health. Proper pruning significantly increases timber yield and quality, aligning with our long-term goals. This excellent work is evident to all visitors. ONMI has a comprehensive plan focused on sustainable, long-term results. Our cultivation of cash crops like oranges and mangoes promises significant income, vital for our community's economic stability and growth.
Empowering Sustainable Agriculture Through Community Support
His efforts are key to creating a sustainable agricultural model that benefits our community. With your financial support, we can encourage his dedication and inspire others. His role is crucial to our success, and we anticipate further progress. Together, we can achieve our goals and foster a thriving agricultural environment.
ONMI's Vision for Sustainable Agroforestry in South Sudan
My goal is to convey ONMI's vision for food and agroforestry and highlight its significance within our Agricultural Department in South Sudan. This viewpoint emphasizes the long-term advantages of your continued support for ONMI's agricultural projects. The initiative focuses on three objectives concerning the opportunities for an independent post-war Republic of South Sudan:
First, the ONMI agricultural department initially highlights the crucial importance for South Sudanese citizens, who have returned from exile, to focus on agriculture and agroforestry to improve their lives and escape poverty.
Secondly, enhancing food production within the agricultural sector empowers the community in South Sudan to achieve food security by growing food locally. This approach reduces hunger and enhances self-sufficiency through increased food production. Such development will enable them to stop importing food from Uganda, save financial resources, and foster a self-sustaining economy within South Sudan. When individuals can produce their own food, they will no longer rely on the UNHCR for food distribution.
Third: ONMI's Agroforestry is a land management strategy that encourages the cultivation of beneficial fruit trees, such as mangoes, oranges, bananas, avocados, and guavas, for food, alongside cash crop trees like teak, mahogany, eucalyptus, and pines for building materials, and livestock for meat, milk, and hide production, all within a unified system. This fosters a sustainable and mutually beneficial agricultural environment. The approach integrates agriculture with trees, including practices like planting trees on farms, growing crops in forested areas, and producing tree-based crops such as cocoa, coffee, and rubber, which are sold to improve the community's standard of living.
Prayers for ONMI's Agricultural Team and Sustainable Food Security Plan - 2025
Finally, please pray for ONMI's agricultural department, for Emmanuel and Grace, Sarah, and me as we develop a plan six months into 2025 to ensure the achievement of permanent, sustainable food security.
Why does it matter? Emmanuel, ONMI's farm coordinator, has opened up an additional 30 acres of farmland in an area previously unused in Beth Israel Farmland to plant more fruit crops and agroforestry before the rainy season ends in November. We need funding for plowing, seed for planting, and manpower to assist with this effort.

Thirdly, Sarah and I have permanently relocated our family to the Beth Israel farmland to set an example for others. This has been our aspiration for the Brethren to embrace the vision of ONMI, as they return from exile to South Sudan to cultivate their own food.
May the Lord provide the necessary funding for this initiative before it starts.
