Rebuilding South Sudan: rising from the ashes of civil war and Islamic Persecution

healthcare01.jpgThe signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Government of Sudan (GoS) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) on January 9th 2005, brought a formal end to a civil-war which had ravaged Southern Sudan for almost 23 years. These two decades of violence, suffering and destruction accounted for the lives of an estimated two million people, and resulted in the displacement of further four million from their homes. In addition to the almost total destruction of physical infrastructure, countless families were torn apart, and a society was brought to the brink of disintegration. Even as a fresh, and some say genocidal, conflict is raging in Darfur, the people of South Sudan are attempting to fashion a future for themselves and their Northern partners in government from the ashes of what was one of Africa’s most brutal and ignored conflicts. Approximately five million people have been displaced by the civil war and over two million have died. An estimated 580,000 IDP and refugees have been returning home since May 2005.This movement is a combination of: North-South returns: 58%; South-South returns: 26%; Neighboring country South returns: 16The 2005 CPA established a new Government of National Unity /Interim national Government of Southern Sudan, and called for wealth and power-sharing in addition to security arrangements between the two parties. The Constitution declares Sudan to be a “democratic, decentralized, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-lingual State.”healthcare02.gifTo date, other implemented provisions of the CPA include the formation of the National Assembly, appointment of Cabinet members, signing of the Southern Sudan Constitution, the appointment of state governors and adoption of state constitutions.

New commissions have also been created. Thus far, those formed include the Assessment and Evaluation Commission, National Petroleum Commission, Fiscal and Financial Allocation and Monitoring Commission, and the North-South Border Commission. The Ceasefire Political Commission, Joint Defense Board, and Ceasefire Joint Military Committee were also established as part of the security arrangements of the CPA.

It is perhaps difficult for those of us who are blessed enough to hail from affluent, ‘developed’ countries to comprehend the scale of the reconstruction task facing the people of South Sudan. The basic services and amenities we take for granted simply do not exist. There are no health-care services to speak of, no education system, no sanitation services, and little if any experience in the mundane but vital tasks involved in running a country. The SPLM/A is attempting to build government institutions from scratch in just a few short years – a process which took the leading lights of global liberal democracy decades, if not centuries to complete. healthcare03.gifThe challenge is enormous, but South Sudan, with limited assistance from the international community, is at least starting down the road to recovery. The security status in Eastern Equatorial state where Operation Nehemiah is established is stable since the signing of the CPA in 2005..

Operation Nehemiah Missions International, Inc William LeviWilliam O. Levi CEO, Founder and President
William founded Operation Nehemiah in 1993 after receiving His B.S. in manufacturing engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is also the author of the Bible or the Axe, the book that tells a gripping story of William’s life , his eventual escape to the USA, and the persecution of the Christians in the Sudan. He has been spear heading Operation Nehemiah on a fulltime basis since 1996. His beloved wife Hannah is a fulltime homemaker and mother of 4. The Levites serve together in ministry from their home office based in Cheshire Massachusetts.

Our Vision:
Operation Nehemiah serves as a voice for theSuffering

Church and the marginalized people of the Sudan. We follow the example of Nehemiah the Re-Builder in rebuilding broken communities, families, widows, orphans and churches that have been suffering persecution. dscf03171.jpg Our Mission: We are a non-profit Christian relief and development ministry serving the persecuted people of the Sudan. We accomplish our mission through creating opportunities for displaced families and pastors to return to their homeland. We provide them with hope through sharing the Gospel of Christ.

dscf03381.jpgOur Value:
The compelling force driving our work is promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which brings people to repentance and eternal salvation. This serves as the criteria for the success of any of our efforts. We believe that a person’s dignity is enhanced through meaningful work, education and Christian discipleship.

image6_edited.JPGOur Distinctive:
We are primarily an indigenous mission. 98% of our staff is South Sudanese Christian nationals. Our staff has a burning desire to take an active role in the rebuilding of their nation and to establish a “City on a Hill” in the New Sudan. We believe that self reliance is best promoted through partnering with indigenous leadership.

healthcare03.gifOur Focus:
Our primary focus is to prepare Beth Israel a village in Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State, in New Sudan for the return of people who were displaced by 23 years of the war and religious persecution in South Sudan. We are intent upon establishing a community that will provide people with the opportunity to rebuild their communities, their families, and to grow in their faith.

The Need:
5928_2.jpg Our project challenge is raise $75,000 to get the radio studio, the clinic and our mission house powered by solar power as source of electricity. These facilities are very instrumental to the community. Running them on generator will be cost prohibitive due to costly fuel consumption. Without a proper power source the station and the facilities will be unreliable. Therefore, we are opting to run the station with solar power as the main power source for the station. We have just completed the construction of a $75,000 radio tower project. This is a 300ft radio tower for broadcasting Christian Gospel messages and health information. We have completed a $25,000 Nehemiah mission house project and $25,000 Nehemiah field clinic. A $10 million medical supplies is been shipped for the clinic from Europe. Radio TowerThe 300ft Gospel Radio Tower stands on Gordon Mountain in Nimule, Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan. radio01.jpgThe Nehemiah Trumpet Call 97.3 FM has been registered with the Government of the South Sudan and is in compliance with South Sudan communication Commission as a Christian Broadcasting station first of its kind in the post war South Sudan. The station, founded in 2003, broadcasts daily Bible teaching, community health information, and public service announcements to a listening audience of over 500,000. A solar powered broadcast studio is planned for construction adjacent to the tower that will eliminate reliance upon costly fuel for generator power to operate the station. The radio programmers share the word of God in the languages of Madi, Acholi English, Juba Arabic and Swahili and encourage the dscf0422.jpgpeople to live wholly for God as they have return to their country. Programs include teaching on marriage and family relationships, Biblical morality, and basic health care information. Individuals and families are also invited to give their testimonies on the air and share what God is doing in their lives with the community. This is the first Christian radio station ever established in Magwi county, Eastern Equatoria, the South Sudan! 1500 donated fix tuned solar radios were distributed free to those living within a 50 mile radius to hear the word of God and health information for their families

Nehemiah Field Clinic

Medical OutreachThrough team work, prayers and with the kind and dedicated spirit of our founder William Levi, Our medical director, Robert Kirkman, international promoter and donors in USA, Nehemiah clinic was provided in place with the aim to render health service to the people of south Sudan-Magwi county and ministered to them words of God. A lot has been done to the people of Magwi County in terms of health service so far in the past few years since Nehemiah clinic came in to existence in Magwi County. Basing on the previous experiences and need to improve and uplift the health of our people, Nehemiah clinic is therefore all set to open its doors to the public and emerge as sustainable provider of comprehensive package of preventive and curative services that makes a substantial contribution to the health of Magwi population.

Field ClinicThe Nehemiah clinic is expected to be a sole property of operation Nehemiah mission international (ONMI) as a church, running under its direct administration and it shall be a private non profitable venture serving Gods people in New Sudan. The clinic will operate as health center III as we hope to step it to health center IV (hospital) in the nearest future depending on how God blesses the project. The Nehemiah Field Clinic exists to improve the health status of returning families through providing free access to basic health care services, primary health education, clean water and nutritional support aimed at reducing mortality and morbidity. In the interest of creating a comfortable and sanitary facility, the clinic must rely upon solar power rather than unpredictable, fuel operated generators.

img_1586.JPG1. Objectives of the Nehemiah clinic To improve the health status of the returnees and also host communities by providing basic health care services, primary health education, water and : 2. To help and improve the basic health services of the southern Sudan (Magwi county), building long term capacity through equipment of the hospital, training and support. 3. Provide Clean and Safe Water through Improved Community Participation 4. To provide general health and sanitation education parallel to the treatment of those requiring medical attention Future anticipation: The radio station will be crucial as a tool for broadcasting the Gospel, health and community related information.

The broadcast signal will be able to cover 100 miles all around with ability to reach Juba, the capital city of image219.JPGSouth Sudan with the population of 500,000 and there are 4.5 million people still living in exile, afraid to return home because they don’t have any idea what is available for them in term of basic provision such as security, water, churches, schools food, for their families. The clinic will be able to serve over 7000 people residing in Magwi County. The Mission house will be staging ground for our mission activities.

Conclusion:
One year prior to the signing of the Peace Agreement, we moved into South Sudan after 10 years serving in the refugee and IDP camps. We focused on providing hope in the Lord that the people would be able to return to their homeland to live and worship in peace. We delivered a mobile medical unit and the first Gospel Radio Station in the Sudan, built a health clinic and a mission house, planted crops, and established a church. The projects described in this proposal will enable us to take another major step in providing hope for our future. We will continue to march forward in the spirit of Isaiah 58:11-12 “…. And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shall rise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shall be called, the repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in.”

Dear Friends and co-laborers in the Great Commission,

Family PhotoShalom! In Psalm 103 verse, we read “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast mercy”. What an encouragement these words are to me as we write to share the summer news of Operation Nehemiah with you. Truly, the mercy of the Lord is what keeps each of us alive each day, pressing toward the mark of the high calling we each have received in Christ. I am so grateful for those abounding and steadfast mercies that are ever present as we experience the trials of this life.

VBS T-ShirtsThis summer was laden with opportunities to behold the deliverance of the Lord in the midst of intense challenges for both the ministry and my family. Our funding level began to decline sharply at the beginning of the season, just as the financial obligations began to climb higher with each passing day. Meeting the urgent needs of our Field Staff in New Sudan became my main focus upon returning to the States in July, in addition to completing final touches on the Nehemiah Radio Tower and the field clinic.

At home, we were busy preparing to move our growing family and the main office to a new Mission House in Lanesboro, MA that will serve as a permanent headquarters. The Biblical command to “Walk by faith and not by sight” became real to us once again as we worked each day to make the most of seemingly little! The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians four verse 11-12 “For I have learned in whatever state I am, therewith to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry , both to abound and to suffer need.” We have learned that this principle is vital when working in ministry by faith, for without it we will be easily discouraged when the bank accounts are empty and the needs continue to mount!

With each dry season we pass through, the promises of God become more precious to us, and the hands He uses to provide what is needed become more beautiful. Once again, the Lord moved in the hearts of those who care about this ministry and we have received over $40,000 in only four weeks! We are now able to address the pressing needs that were overwhelming just a few short weeks ago. For those of you who may be experiencing similar trials, we hope this testimony is an encouragement to the faithfulness of our Father in Heaven, and the certain futility of striving in our flesh!

Prayer need: Our fiscal vision for 2007- 2008 starting Oct 1st 2007 is to stabilize our monthly mission budget. To remain effective in ministry, Operation Nehemiah requires a minimum of $25,000 monthly. If only 1,000 supporters give an average of $25 monthly, we can meet this goal!

Here is a summary of the monthly budget:

1. On going Project expenses- $10, 000

2. Overseas staff and operating budget- $ 8,000

3. Domestic office budget and staff support - $7000.00

Radio TowerA recent incident in the Field has reminded us of the powerful spiritual warfare still raging in New Sudan, and the need for unceasing prayer. Operation Nehemiah’s logo (above) is a clear proclamation of our Messianic /Christian faith and was installed on a four foot sign near the top of the 300ft Nehemiah Radio Tower just days before this writing. We have received a report from the Field that the logo might be stolen or blown off the tower by wind and has not yet been recovered. It is suspected that the thieves acted out of religious intimidation, as there is a growing Islamic presence in the nearby town of Nimule. Field Director Joseph Levi has requested $4,000 to build a solid fence around the tower and its components. Although our ultimate protection is in God, it is hoped that a strong barrier will deter any further attacks on the tower, as it is a crucial tool for the spread of the Gospel in New Sudan.

Please join us in prayer for the following:

  • The salvation of the logo thieves and recovery of the stolen property
  • Increased boldness to continue sharing the Word of God among a growing Muslim population
  • $4,000 needed for the security fence
  • Wisdom and discernment in all areas of ministry
  • $35,000 to purchase solar panels for running the radio studio and the clinic

Praise report:

Truck arrived safelyThe five ton repatriation truck which left the USA in April has finally arrived at the Operation Nehemiah compound in South Sudan! It is already being put to good use in service to returning families. We thank God for His mighty protection on the vehicle during the shipping process.

Medical OutreachPraise report: Our medical department is eagerly awaiting the arrival of over $10 million dollars worth of medicine and health care supplies that were recently donated by a ministry based in Wisconsin. The shipment, expected this October, will enable Operation Nehemiah to provide years of consistent care to our emerging community. Please join us in thanking the Lord for this marvelous gift.

Dear Friend and co-laborer,

Shalom!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Lord for your prayers and financial support of my recent mission trip to the South Sudan. The mission was successful and a blessing from the Lord.

Radio TowerI am pleased to report that our 300ft Gospel radio tower has been completed and is now standing tall on Gordon Mountain in Nimule, in South Sudan! The Lord’s hand was truly upon this project. In spite of the many obstacles encountered during construction, we were strengthened by God’s grace to overcome. The Nehemiah Trumpet Call 97.3 FM has been officially registered with under the government of the South Sudan as a Christian Broadcasting station.

We are now waiting upon the Lord to provide the $35,000 needed to build an on site solar powered studio next to the tower.

Field Reports:

“Dear William and our fellow Brothers and Sisters in the USA ,

Joseph LeviThanks be to God for the great work he has done in our lives and in the ministry during the moments of hopelessness and helplessness. The Lord is the same today and tomorrow. His promises never fail. I thank God for the radio tower work on Mt. Gordon. It is hard to believe the work is complete!

I just returned from Juba, our Capitol City, with our certificate of registry as a Christian FM radio station. Hallelujah!”

-Joseph Levi, Field director, New Sudan.

Heavy Duty Transport VehicleOur five ton truck has now arrived in the South Sudan! It will be extensively used to aid refugee families in their return to their homeland. The truck will also serve as a roadside assistance vehicle, as road conditions in South Sudan continue to be extremely rugged. I thank God for blessing Operation Nehemiah with such a vital tool for development.

Beth Israel On the Nile Update

Beth Israel 01The church is progressing very well in Magwi county, in the same area where Operation Nehemiah is serving. The Congregation is growing weekly, and it is common to find over 300 believers together on Sunday mornings. A sister Church has been planted 24 miles south of the main one in the town of Nimule, and the Body of Christ there now worships the Lord under a large tree. We are praying for a building to be provided in the Lord’s perfect timing.

Churches, members are maturing spiritually and deepening in their knowledge of the Bible and holy living. Hurting families are beginning to grow together in the Lord. On my last visit, I was impressed by the number of men coming to church and the industrious spirit emerging from many who have spent years living in dependency and drunkenness. The wives and children are very encouraged to see their husbands and fathers joining them in worship and service to the Lord.

They even welcomed our team with a gift of a goat and 3 cans of peanut butter! This is a sign of increasing prosperity and restoration, and was very encouraging to us.

I would like to bless the Beth Israel this year with $50,000.00 to construct a multipurpose church building.

Michael and Katherine Levi, New Sudan.

Family Restoration:

Family RestorationThe impact of family breakdown over the past 25 years of Islamic persecution runs deep in the social fabric of South Sudan. It cannot be underestimated. The real challenge now facing the church leaders is the ministry of reconciliation among the families they shepherd. Please pray for them to fulfill their calling to raise up a faithful generation of Christian families in the midst of a post war culture.

I would like to share the testimony of my own Brother, Michael Levi. Last July, Michael accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Prior to his conversion, he has a notorious drunkard in the refugee community. Miraculously, the Lord opened a door for him to attend a discipleship school in Uganda 3 months, and he returned a new man in Christ! Michael now serves as an elder at the Beth Israel Congregation and is the Leader of our agricultural department. God has restored his marriage and work ethic completely and now he and his wife Katherine spend their ‘spare” time encouraging younger couples to keep their marriages together. They have seven children and one grand son.

All three of my brothers are now working alongside Operation Nehemiah. Praise God! This is the kind of generational reconciliation that will truly transform South Sudan for Jesus Christ.

Widows of the Good News

Widow of the Good NewsPictured at right, you can see the good fruit of our sewing program for the widows of our community. A dear Sister in the Lord from California recently partnered with her home church to bless this program with new sewing machines and the fabric needed to produce clothing for families in need. We hope to continue increasing the number of machines so that more widows will be given the precious opportunity to generate income for their families.

If you would like to donate a non- electric sewing machine or other materials, please contact our office for further information.

Micro Business Update

Micro BusinessFor almost 3 years our bee keeping department has been faithfully laboring with their bees to produce quality honey for sale to the community. All the hard work finally paid off this June, with a first harvest of over 120 pounds of pure, raw honey! The bee keeping staff then joyfully presented their first fruits to the Church, and the liquid gold was distributed among the attending families on a Sunday morning, much to their delight! The next harvest will be in November 2007. To date, there are 20 active bee hives. Would you consider encouraging this hard working team with a generous gift today? They need $1,000.00 to maintain equipment and increase production capacity.

Agricultural Development

Agricultural DevelopmentOur agricultural project is coming along very well, praise God! The most recent project was the opening of another 40 acres for mangos, bananas, pineapples and many other tropical fruits. The community is now enjoying the food they have directly raised with their own hands, and the overall quality of life is improving. We hope to harvest enough produce in the next two to three years to begin exporting to other African Nations. The challenge to this goal is the constant need for quality equipment and ongoing repairs to the tractor!

This department currently needs $5,000.00 to complete repairs and purchase seeds and supplies.

Nehemiah Field Clinic:

Field ClinicNehemiah field Clinic is still in the final stages of completion. We are determined to avoid incurring debt during this process, so the work only continues as the funds are provided. We had hoped to open our doors in late June, but experienced some delays that have pushed the completion to September. The clinic is critically needed to meet the medical needs of over 7,000 people now residing in Pageri district where Operation Nehemiah is working. We thank God for bringing us Dr. Luka Benson, a Christian young man who has committed to long term service in the clinic. Please help us raise the $10,000 needed to make his calling a reality.

Repatriation program:

Repatriation ProgramI was able to visit a number of families who are enjoying their finished homes and gardens after receiving $1,000.00 in tools and building supplies from this program.

The waiting list for assistance is long and is growing every day. Over 137 families are waiting to be repatriated to Opari village. This is a big undertaking for our program director Taban James! Please pray for God’s leading and provision, as so many people are relying on Operation Nehemiah to help them rebuild their homeland.

A single donation of $1,000.00 enables an entire family to return the South Sudan and create thriving homes once again!

Hard WorkWith the staggering amount of work to be done in this new born country, it is always a temptation to get overwhelmed and discouraged. The vision and hopes in our hearts for the Land and her people don’t always match the reality that we see. Please continue to pray for all of the dedicated men and women who have obeyed God’s call to “rebuild the wall” of New Sudan with Operation Nehemiah, and kindly continue to give of your resources as God enables you. May God bless you for standing with us during this historic time. For those of you who would prefer to receive our newsletters electronically, just send us your email address and we will update you accordingly. Also, our website is now equipped to accept online donations at www.operationsnehemiah.org

Dear Friends and Co-laborers in the Great Commission,

Shalom! Greetings to you in the name of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His mercies are indeed new every morning, and His steadfast love never fails!

Jemimah Laura RoseLevi FamilyIt is with great joy and thanksgiving that I announce the birth of our third daughter and fourth child, Jemimah Laura Rose. She was born on the morning of April 2nd, and weighed a healthy 8 lbs. 1 oz. Hannah is recovering well, and Jemimah is a very content, peaceful child.

Her siblings are delighted with her arrival! We praise God for adding to our family and pray that we will be diligent to raise Jemimah for His glory.

The progress taking place in New Sudan is strengthening each day, as the Lord continues to open broad doors for ministry and development. Nehemiah Health ClinicThe Nehemiah Health Clinic is scheduled to open its doors in early June, and we have been praying for a steady supply of medicine and vaccines to be provided. We were amazed to receive the answer to that prayer recently, when a medical ministry based in Wisconsin contacted us and offered over 12 million dollars worth of pharmaceuticals and clinic supplies! Lord willing, this donation will enable us to operate the field clinic continually for many years to come, without the interruptions that often result from a lack of basic supplies. We only need an additional $9,000 to complete the interior with plumbing and electrical work. Hallelujah!

Radio TowerI am also excited to report that the construction of our 300ft radio tower for Nehemiah Trumpet Call 97.3 FM Gospel radio in Nimule, South Sudan has commenced. A new 6 bay radio antenna will strengthen our current signal significantly and will boost the current transmitter power to cover a listening area of over 100 miles. Over 500,000 people both in South Sudan and northern Uganda will be reached by this radio station. The Body of Christ all across America raised a total of $75,000 dollars for this project through VCY America, a conservative Christian radio station. We are truly humbled by their generosity and love for their Brethren in New Sudan.

Heavy Duty Transport VehicleOur Repatriation Program has been in need of a heavy duty transport vehicle since the program was launched, and it took us over a year of searching to locate the right truck for the job. The Lord providentially provided a five ton refurbished military truck through the generosity of the ProVision Foundation and Clark Truck Parts, based in West Virginia. We are also grateful for underwriting support from The Universal Aid Society and our local Church Body here in the Berkshires. The Truck is now en route to Southern Sudan and will arrive May 30th! The timing of its arrival will coincide with the resettling of another 156 South Sudanese Nationals who have been accepted into the program.

Summer Mission Trip

Please be in prayer for my upcoming trip to the field, scheduled for June 28th-July 14th. I will be accompany by a missionary well drilling expert, Mr. Chris Cutter, with the goal of drilling more wells for the community, among other projects. Last year Chris was unable to travel to New Sudan to help, but now it seems the Lord has made it possible for him to be of service to children and widows in the South Sudan. He called me recently and offered to donate his time for the project! God can truly do the impossible.

We need $35,000 dollars to accomplish the tasks at hand which will cover the on going work in the field over the summer, including our traveling expenses. By the grace of God, we hope to have 80% of the fund by June 15th. If you are able, would you consider sending a gift to help defray the costs involved?

I praise God for your faithful support and love for the persecuted Church. Your encouragement is saving the lives of so many. God bless you.In His service,

Summer Mission Trip Letter

Dear Friend and Co Laborer in the Great Commission,

Greetings to you in the matchless name of Jesus, our blessed Messiah! I pray this note finds you and your loved ones well and prospering in the beauty of the summer season.

I would like to thank you for your prayers and support for my upcoming mission to New Sudan, taking place June 24th-July 11th. To date, I have received $11,000 toward my mission trip goal of $35,000! Praise the Lord! I now have three weeks to raise the remaining balance of $24,000. These funds will address the following projects:

  • Completion of Nehemiah Field Clinic- $7,000.00
  • Well drilling project- $2,000
  • Church support and outreach materials- $2000
  • Finishing of Mission House guest rooms- $ 1500
  • Radio Tower generator hook up- $ 5000
  • Agricultural tools and supplies- $ 1500
  • Staff salaries and general operating budget- $ 5000

Thank you for prayerfully considering sending a special gift toward this mission. Summer is always a difficult time for fundraising, but by the grace of God and your support, I know all these pressing needs will be met. Your partnership is crucial in our endeavor to be a voice for the suffering Church in the Sudan.

Gifts of any size go a long way in making a difference in individual lives. This truth is beautifully expressed in a testimony I recently received from Luka Benson, a student who has been supported by your donations through Operation Nehemiah to attend Mbarara University of Science and Medical School in Uganda. Raised in refugee camps, a son of a widow, he will be graduating with his degree in medicine this June. He will be serving as Operation Nehemiah’s medical staff to head the Nehemiah Medical clinic in the South Sudan.

Dr. Luka Gobi BensonDear William,

I know it has been not easy for you and the donors in America to bring me up to this level. You accepted to carry the load meant for my parents. This shows to me the depth of love that flows from you all to our neighborhood. All who know me can see clearly how far I have come and where I am now. Many may not truly appreciate what Operation Nehemiah is doing, but here I stand as a testimony to others as to what Operation Nehemiah has achieved here in Africa.

Luka Gobi Benson,
Mbarara University of Science and Technology

It is success like this that keeps me inspired to continue pressing on in this work. I pray it does the same for you.

Mission report Jan 2007

In the radio roomFrom left to right William Levi, CEO and President Joseph Levi, Country Director and Martin Bwoma, Nehemiah Trumpet Call Radio Program Director in Radio room in Beth Israel Mission house, Pageri Payam, Magwi county, Eastern Equatroia State, South Sudan.

This mission trip was by the most encouraging and productive I have experienced in recent years. Although the challenges to rebuilding increase each day, the progress taking place inspires us to continue on. When we moved our base in to Southern Sudan by faith four years ago, we could not have imagined what God would do with an overgrown plot of land and a near vacant community! His love and care for the people of New Sudan is evident and we are tremendously blessed to be a small part of it.

Nehemiah himself was a man of vision and when God called him to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, he was faced with major obstacles in his effort to mobilize the Israelites and rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. However, in the midst of the opposition he persevered and was steadfast in God. All of the works which God envisioned for him to do were completed in spite of the difficulties. The effort to rebuild the broken community in the New Sudan gives us similar challenges like in the days of Nehemiah. However, his life and vision inspire us to remain steadfast. Your continued prayer and financial support will help us do just that.

In His grace and Service,

William Levi, President

Shalom! I pray this update finds you rejoicing in the abundant life freely given by our risen Lord. Thank you for your faithful generosity to our ministry and the people of Sudan . We are humbled each month by the grace of God extended to us through your prayers and support.
