Progress in 2005

Shalom! On behalf of the staff of Operation Nehemiah and your Christian family in New Sudan, I would like to send Christmas greetings to you in the name of Jesus, our Kinsman redeemer.

As we reflect on the meaning of the incarnation, we are continually overwhelmed with the truth that “God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son” (John 3:16).

That the God of the universe would empty himself and come to earth in the form of a helpless infant is beyond our human capacity to fully understand. What a Mighty and merciful Savior

This past year we have witnessed many wonderful new beginnings in Southern Sudan, as families return to reclaim their homeland for God’s purposes. Pictured below are our first fruit, onions from the fields, and the construction of new homes and offices.

It has been an exciting time of spiritual renewal and physical rebuilding for those willing to face the challenges of forging a living out of the wilderness. What an encouragement it has been to see our Sudanese brothers and Sisters begin to receive the tools and instruction needed to create stable homes for their families. God has shown himself faithful to his people once again.

Dr. Mindra Godwin Visits the United States

The highlight of this year’s work was the arrival of our senior Field Director, Dr. Mindra Godwin, for a six week speaking tour here in the States. His visit sparked a tremendous outpouring of support for the work in Corom, as many churches and individuals responded to his testimony with loving generosity. Over $30,000.00 was raised to aid the progress of our renovation and construction projects in New Sudan! Praise be to God!

Looking Back and Looking Forward

Overall, the year 2005 has been full of blessings for my family and Operation Nehemiah through the caring love of dear believers who have made it possible for us to see real progress in the South Sudan.

We are now coming to the end of 2005 and are in the process of winding down Operation Nehemiah’s financial obligations for 2005. We will be able to close the gap by raising $8,500.00 by the end of December. This amount is needed for:

  1. Remaining education fees for three Operation Nehemiah Interns in Uganda - $ 3000.00

  2. FM Radio equipment (replacement antenna) for Nehemiah Trumpet Call 97.3 FM South Sudan - $2000.00

  3. Foreign and domestic general office expenses- $3500.00

Taking care of these three priorities will enable us to begin 2006 without any unresolved financial commitments.

The vision that the Lord gave us 4 years ago for Corom is coming to pass in an awesome way. Our next level of development is scheduled to begin in January, 2006, and we have begun praying for a tile making machine, a cement and block production machine, and funds to build the first ever permanent Congregation (church) building for The Beth Israel Messianic Congregation on the Nile in New Sudan. Meeting these three needs will empower the indigenous community to build solid basic infrastructure, provide employment and economy, and create a central place of worship for the growing congregation. Please be in prayer for this ambitious development project that the Lord will provide, strengthen, and guide as we continue to “rebuild the wall”.

Thank you for your labor of love for this ministry and the “least of these” in New Sudan.

We pray that your Christmas celebration will bring renewed love and fervor to your walk with Jesus, the Light of the World. We want to love Him above all else and serve Him with zeal as this world continues to “pass away” 1 John 2: 17.

May God bless you with assurance of hope as we enter into 2006! Maranatha!

In His service,

William Levi, President and Founder
