Beth Israel Messianic Congregation
The Beth Israel on the Nile is a Messianic Congregation established by Operation Nehemiah Missions with the support of a sister congregation, the Beth Israel Messianic Congregation, Garfield, NJ. It came into existence on Sunday July 29, 2000 precisely 7 years after the establishment of Operation Nehemiah Missions. It was first established in Kampala, Uganda to minister the word of God to the Sudanese refugees in exile.
In May 2005, Beth Israel on the Nile moved to Pageri- Beth Israel village in Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan. The Beth Israel on the Nile is established to meet the spiritual need of the South Sudanese returning from exile to rebuild their families and country from the ruin of war and to prepare them for service to serve God, families and community in the New Sudan. It has ministry outreaches to the families, men, widows, soldiers, women, families, and to the Muslims. To date, the congregation has 5 pastoral staff ministering to over 250 congregants, a group of South Sudanese who have returned from exile to take hold of their country. The head pastor is Joseph Levi with four other pastoral staff comprising of Martin Bwoma, Alex Wajarus, Richard Anduga and Michael Levi. Currently the congregation has opened a branch in Nimule, Magwi County under Benjamin Levi to minister to those returning from exile. William Levi is the general overseer of the congregation.
The Lord raised up William Levi, founder of Operation Nehemiah based in the USA and South Sudan and his three brothers Joseph, Michael and Benjamin Levi to establish the congregation. The Levites’ supported by families and friends envisioned the congregation to meet the standard of the first century church as outlined in the book of Acts of the Apostles where Jews and gentiles co-labor together in Yeshua. As Messianic Jews themselves, the Levites, boys know that their ultimate calling is to be light to the nations. God’s divine providence has placed them in the interior of the Sudan, the largest country in Africa to make a difference for Jesus. They pioneering the Great Commission and advancing the Kingdom of God in the Midst of persecution and major political changes taking place in the Sudan today.

- Strengthen Beth Israel Congregation as a mother that continues nurturing the faithful into healthy and ever growing disciples.
- Construct and establish a congregational center that can be used on multipurpose basis for worship, training and other ministry and community related activities.
- Create an equipping/sending center for church leadership training and outreach
- Show The Jesus Film to half the residents of Magwi County
- Establish a holistic, biblical discipleship ministry for new believers and continue developing those in the system.
- Plant churches
- Train lay pastors to lead new congregations, and develop new lay pastors who will plant new congregations
- Establish Beth Israel Messianic Congregation in Corom ( Beth Israel )
- Nehemiah Trumpet Call Radio (97.3FM - Expand the signal reception of the station from 60 miles to 250 miles radius
- Establish as a health, relationship healing, and outreach and discipleship program among the people of Magwi County. Move Nehemiah Trumpet Call to Beth Israel. Set up 100 ft radio tower on Ako or Gordon Mountain for clarity of reception and efficiency.
- Adult Literacy: Establish an adult literacy program in Pageri and have 50 of the women and men attending or have attended.
- Establish a remedial home schooling curriculum for parents to teach their children having understood the concept from their adult literacy program.
- Widow Program: Provide widows and their children with basic housing facilities and training in micro businesses so that they can eventually support themselves for self reliance..
- Eliminate the need for widows in Pageri Payam to brew alcoholic beverages to support themselves and their children given the fact that this brewing industry destroys both the spiritual and physical developmental capacities of an individual.
