Water drilling project is one of the projects that OMNI is also working on. Shortages of water are one of the major problems confronting Christian communities in the News Sudan. To effectively run a facility such as the machine shop, our compound. Medical facilities, schools, churches and residential homes, we need to put in place water supplies to provide decent sanitation to the plants and the community.

Our new well drilling rig, above safely on location in December 2006. In preparation for well drilling activities, I attended a one week intensive course on drilling in Virginia before traveling to The Sudan.

I was then able to train our drilling team in the use of the terrameter, an instrument used for detecting water, and in operating the drilling rig. They are now equipped to drill wells for the community and will begin as soon as another drilling engineer joins them with an air compressor, which is a very important component to developing wells. Praise the Lord!

Sudanese returning from exile to take hold of their country take minimum 3 hours to get just a jerry can of water. To get water at 6 AM in the morning, you need to be at the pump site at 3 AM. However, the most challenging water development project is in New Sudan.

On Jan 9, 2005, a peace agreement was signed to stop the war in the South Sudan completely. This has opened the door for Sudanese refugees to return to their own land. However, much of that land lies fin ruin after years of neglect, and there is no infrastructure in place to tend to the needs of the people as they rebuild.

Activities:

OCT 2006 – Jan 2007: deliver a Water Drilling rig and Terrameter from the USA to Corom (Beth Israel) Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State, and South Sudan.

We will be training 2 drilling staff at a recognized center within or without Sudan. The staff will survey the area of Corom (Beth Israel), locate the best locations for wells (both swallow and deep wells). The target is to establish 3 wells during 2006- 2007 fiscal year. A well each at Pageri by the Beth Israel Congregational center, Borongole Hub and Nimule hub.

Our mission home, where missionaries and full time staff will be staying for extended periods of time.
A 20 bed hospital and a mobile clinic that will treat over 500 people per week
A stable water supply for livestock and dry season irrigation of food crops.
